Swimming Pool Dream

· What God Showed Me About His Plans ·

Yesterday I was chatting with a girlfriend about the disappointment she was feeling because of a professional opportunity that she was not chosen for, despite the fact that she was an exceptional candidate. I had a very similar experience which I wrote about in a previous blog post Rejected by my Dream Job.

As I spoke with her I felt inclined to share with her a dream that had about a week ago because it seemed applicable and now I want to share this dream with you because I feel that there is a message within this dream that is insightful and encouraging for all of us.

The dream in itself was brief. In it I saw a giant above-ground swimming pool that had been filled to the rim with water. The pool was so full, if someone were to get in it, it would overflow.

The next thing I saw, was a man that was walking towards the pool with a plastic grocery store bag. As he approached the pool he started trying to put the pool in the bag so that he could drag it away and ultimately steal it.

As much as he tried, he found it was impossible. The pool was just too big and too heavy and plus it was full of water. The pool wasn’t going anywhere.

In my dream the pool represents what God has for you in its vast abundance. The person with the bag represents “man” who has no power or ability to move what God has ordained specifically for you…which is much larger than you may realize.

We all have dreams and aspirations. Along with that we have a very good idea of how we think our lives are supposed to play out; but the truth of the matter is, only God knows that. He says…

“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.’”

God has a plan for you…and what HE has for you, is for you.

“I know thy works. Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it. For thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My Word, and hast not denied My name.” Rev. 3:8
